Associate Implementation Specialist


Responsibilities


* Provides software related custom integration and implementation support on EMC products at the customer site; this may include pre-site inspection, initial installation, troubleshooting, implementation, customization, integration, and outline orientation for the customer.

* Represents EMC in a professional manner to the customer at all times. May train customer personnel when authorized by TS management.

* Performs according to established safety standards. Reports unsafe situations and recommends improvements. Prepares, maintains, and submits activity/progress reports and time recording/management reports in accordance with published procedures.

* Keeps Project Managers informed of activities, alerting of any issues promptly. Provides updates to EMC case tracking system and or other technical applications for software implementation and Problem Reporting/Resolution. Completes end-of-project reports.

* Seeks advice or assistance from TS management and/or Customer Support-TS as required during difficult customer situations. Works in conjunction with EMC customer support colleagues to ensure effective resolution of technical issues encountered during implementations.

* Installs EMC software products in a Mainframe and/or Open Systems hardware environment. Performs moderately complex and/or extended-stay software implementations. Successfully manages relations with Customers utilizing negotiation and influencing skills to acquire the internal and external resources necessary for optimal results. Supports Program Managers, Project Managers and Solutions Architects in developing Scopes of Work and Project Plans. May also occasionally support other activities as needed.

* Maintains awareness of existing or potential customer software and machine situations. Proactively alerts customer and manager of potential problems based upon strong working knowledge of software and hardware compatibility within the customer's environment. Actively works to educate others in the region and nationally on potential problems and resolutions.



Experience and Education


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent coursework and/or related experience required.




Technical Skills


* Operating System: Prefer Unix, Linux, zOS, and/or Windows experience

* Computer systems: Prefer knowledge of CPU, memory, busses, I/O, device drivers, buffering, job scheduling, virtual memory, file systems and file system structure

* Networking: Prefer knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet, addressing, mapping, flow control, naming, routing/traffic

* Databases: Prefer knowledge of relational and hierarchal, design, file system organization and indexing



Skills


* Analytical ability

* Problem solving skills; Ability to multi-task

* Strong written, oral and listening skills

* Ability to work both independently and in teams

* Understanding of Storage industry a plus



Logistics and Travel


* This role requires frequent travel, up to 90% regional travel

* Personal vehicle required

* Willing to work evenings, weekends, holidays

* Flexibility towards relocation preferred
