DESCRIPTION:
The Parks Opportunity Program (POP) is an innovative transitional employment program which provides intensive skills training, adult education, employment counseling, job placement assistance as well as a paid work experience to Public Assistance recipients. Through this comprehensive approach, POP helps trainees attain independence and stability.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under supervision, with some latitude for independent initiative and judgement, perform data processing functions for POP division. Entry participants information into a centralized database. Assist with research, analysis and /or reporting of internal studies devised to measure the effectiveness of the program. Meet with participants one-on-one for resume development. Draft a high volume of resumes for participants. Work with other staff members on a variety of daily administrative needs and long-term projects. Provide general office support such as answering phones, scheduling appointments and meetings. Perform related functions required for the continued and efficient operation of a computer.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

1. A four-year high school diploma or it's educational equivalent, plus (a) six months of satisfactory full-time mainframe and/or mini computer operations experience acquired in the past year, or (b) graduation from an approved technical school (approximately 675 hours) with a specialization in mainframe or mini computer operations; or
2. An Associates degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college including or supplemented by 12 semester credits in mainframe and/or mini computer operations; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to ?1? or ?2? above. Undergraduate college credit can be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits, from an accredited college, including or supplemented by 6 semester credits in mainframe and/or mini computer operations, for 3 months of experience. However, all candidates must have a four-year high school diploma or it's educational equivalent. New York City Residency required.

PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree. Strong administrative and writing skills. Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Word and Excel. Valid New York State driver's license. Ability to work a flexible schedule. Able to work creatively and diligently, under both direct and indirect supervision.

Salary: $29,203 - $37,801. Location: Citywide
