DATA PROCESSING SPECIALIST

Our Data Specialist will have:

  Excellent working knowledge of SQL, Microsoft Excel, Access

  Strong analytical, communication and problem solving skills

  Solid organization skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks

  A demonstrated enthusiasm for data analytics

  Knowledge of data development, data cleansing and data mining concepts

 

Specific duties and responsibilities will include: 

  Preparing mail files for multiple clients with detailed requests by implementing a defined strategy, programming and executing suppression procedures, which may include merge and purge processes

  Receiving, reading, and verifying external files from clients or third party vendors

  Converting files in the system utilizing multiple data applications

  Verifying converted files to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the information and producing final mail files. 

 

Qualifications and skills required include: 

  Knowledge and skills equivalent to the completion of four years of college, with course work in computer science and/or information systems

  Two years of professional experience working with data files and utilizing programming principles, preferably in a financial or direct mail industry environment

  Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment

  The ability to think logically ? (e.g., understand the implications of nested parenthesis in boolean expressions) and build complex lists (understand data structures, data processing concepts, multi level de-duplications, and multiple databases) while keeping in mind business and marketing strategies

  Strong programming aptitude -- in some cases the data needs to be summarized requiring an understanding of when to use SQL expressions (Group by Having, Sum, Max, Min) as compared to standard data elements
