Summary: The Data Center Manager is responsible for the management of the Kaplan Professional data center environments. The position manages vendor relationships including data center vendors, hardware vendors and software vendors. They will drive Infrastructure cost and budget tracking, schedule management, capacity planning, application reporting, technology purchasing, contract negotiation and documentation. This position will also be focused on developing, maintaining and testing disaster recovery strategies.
Specific Responsibilities:Responsible for managing data center environmentsManage power, internet bandwidth, rack space, inventoryManage hosting provider relationshipsManage 3rd party monitoring and managed servicesTrack costs and budgets related to data centerTrend network, power and space requirements for capacity planningProvide application monitoring and uptime metrics to internal customersCommunicate with internal customers on downtime and planned maintenanceMaintain data center documentationDomain name and SSL cert registration and managementManage physical build out of data centersDevelop SLA's and monitor adherence to SLA's.Responsible for vendor contract negotiation and purchasingResearch and evaluate vendorsPurchase technology products and servicesEnsure license compliance with software vendorsManage relationships with telecom vendors, order and track servicesDevelop, maintain and test disaster recovery strategiesWork with business units on DR strategiesMaintain vendor relationships (Sungard, etc) Document technology DR planTest DR plans with technology and business teams
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computers, or related fields5+ years experience in data center operations, computer hardware, system software, data communications, and telecommunicationsExperience with vendor and contract managementAbility to work beyond normal business hours to assure task completionPrior experience with Disaster Recovery planning and implementationYou'll have a critical role in our technology department, while you earn an excellent salary.
