Desktop Technician

 

OBJECTIVE

 Must demonstrate skills with desktop application software, O/S Windows XP and 2003, trouble shooting and repair.Must have previous working experience with Carbon Copy software, new desktop installation and system configuration.Will be responsible to support various critical desktop installations and desktop computer rollout projects.

 

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Will be responsible for supporting desktop trouble shooting/repair, new system installations, application installations, hardware repair and identifying users? hardware/software requirements. The selected candidate will provide technical laptop/desktop computer support and repair. Other additional duties will include, but are not limited to:

 

1.  Deliver and setup personal computer/laptop equipment.

 

2.  Install software and peripherals on personal and/or laptop computer systems. Depending on the desktop OS configuration, software may include: Windows XP or 2003 OS, MS Office Pro, Novell Groupwise, Network adapters, Internet Browsers and other proprietary applications.

 

3.  Resolve end-user problem calls assigned by the Help Desk and/or supervisor.  Most installations/repairs will be in-house.  However, some occasional travel to remotely located users may be required. 

 

4.  Install desktop equipment.

 

5.  Configure and connect desktop and laptop computers to the network.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  The Candidate must meet all of the following qualifications:

 

1. Must have three (3) years experience, within the last four (4) years, with Windows O/S configuration, desktop and laptop trouble shooting. These standards shall include, but not limited to:

 

a. Windows XP and 2003

b. Full range of MS desktop applications

c.  Novell Groupwise

d. Altiris CMS

 

2. Must have two (2) years experience, within the last three (3) years, working with Microsoft Project, M/S Excel and M/S Word.

 

3. Must have at least four (4) years experience, within the last five (5) years, installing and repairing Desktop and laptops.

 

4. Must posses a Microsoft Certification (MCP).  Must provide verification. 

 

5. Must have four (4) years experience, within the last 5 years, with Local Area Networks (LANs) equipment, including configuration and fault isolation.

6. Must have three (3) years experience, within the last four (4) years, with TCP-IP and routing protocols.
