Graphics Technician

JOB PURPOSE:
Installation and maintenance of all exhibition graphics and signage.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the production, installation, and maintenance of all exhibition related graphics and public signage. Attend and participate in weekly work schedule meetings. Conduct routine gallery checks and report changes to Manager of Graphic Design. Complete local pick-ups and deliveries of supplies. Maintain design work and storage areas. Maintain the consistency of the museum?s prescribed design program. Maintain graphics filing systems: Both hard copy and digital archives.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be detail oriented and highly organized. Must be able to meet deadlines. Must be able to lift 40 to 50 pounds and climb ladders. The position requires flexibility and a ?can do? attitude. Proven expertise in design production and graphics installation. Macintosh proficiency in QuarkXPress, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator. Ability to translate text and graphics files between both Mac and PC platforms quickly and accurately.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor?s degree and experience in exhibition installation preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to communicate effectively with museum staff.Ability to effectively present information. Must possess excellent writing skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to compute rates and percentages and to present information in report form.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to solve problems and prioritize needs in a variety of situations.
