Shell Global Solutions is currently seeking a Groundwater Data Management/GIS (Database Focus) for its Houston, Texas location.
Responsibilities:
In this position you will be responsible for managing, analyzing, reporting data, utilizing GIS, and other tools for analysis and visualization, in order to support environmental site assessment, remediation, liability allocation, and litigation strategies.
Key accountabilities include:
Leading or supporting a variety of environmental DB projects and tasks (EarthSoft?s EquIS is the primary application)
Providing primary Oracle database administration support
Working with the GIS/DB Team Lead managing/creating/utilizing databases, GIS and other visualization tools such as Surfer, EVS, and Rockworks
Interfacing with a counterpart overseas to manage support to the global S&GW team
Scheduling day-to-day task, cost management, management and documentation of work processes, and quality assurance
Liaising between the GIS/DB Lead and environmental project leaders within S&GW
Performing analytical data collection from multiple sources (e.g., Internet, vendors, labs, consultants), conversion, attributions and formatting, to meet time-sensitive deadlines
Performing data clean up, loading, and analyzing work
Managing database software and maintaining close interface with IT service providers
Assisting GIS/DB Lead in promoting GIS by championing and providing training to internal staff and customers
Maintaining knowledge of new data management technologies and coordinating with GIS/DB Lead on new applications
Requirements:
To be considered for this position, you must possess a Bachelor?s Degree in Geology/Hydrogeology, Geography, Chemical, Environmental, Civil Engineering, IT, Geomatics or a related field and have approximately 3 or more years managing Oracle/SDE environment, plus SQL and Access proficient. You must possess approximately 5 or more years experience in database management related to environmental industry. You must possess EQuIS experience, strongly preferred, loading, QA/QC, and maintaining system, coordinating with vendors, and testing new applications. You must also possess approximately 5 or more years experience with ESRI software and the ArcGIS family of products: ArcSDE, ArcIMS, Spatial and 3-D Analyst.
Additional requirements include:
Ability to interact with internal customers, software vendors, and data suppliers (external consultants and laboratories) with a client service approach
Ability to be detail orientated
Oracle certifications, a plus
Prior experience with Oracle on MS Windows Server
Experienced in programming using VB, C, C++, JavaScripts, ESRI?s map objects, and SQL
Familiar with ArcInfo, AutoCAD, FME
Exposure to EVS, GMS, Rockworks, Surfer, LogPlot
Ability to demonstrate evidence of Enterprise first values and behaviors
Ability to utilize DB/GIS and related technologies, combined with critical thinking and problem-solving skills and data analysis techniques, to analyze hydrogeology and environmental problems
Good project management skills (scheduling/task management) and team leadership capabilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to contribute in a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment
Ability to identify client needs and translate them to new business opportunities
Good interpersonal skills, customer focus and client-interface capabilities
