Help Desk Administrator

We are currently searching for a Help Desk Administrator in our US headquarters, located in North Attleboro, Massachusetts.  As an integral part of the Information Systems team, the incumbent will be responsible for investigating and resolving software and hardware problems of computer users by performing the essential duties and responsibilites listed for all U.S. sites.

The essential responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:Answering, evaluating and prioritizing incoming telephone, voice mail, e-mail and in-person requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking, and other computer-telated technologiesInterviewing user to collect information about problem and leading user through diagnostic procedures to determine source of error.Determining whether problem is caused by hardware such as modem, printer, cables, or telephone.Handling problem recognition, researching, isolating, resolving and following up for routine user problems, referring more complex problems to supervisor or technical staff.Maintaining database of assets including record of repairs.Analyzing and evaluating incident reports and making recommendations to reduce help line incident rate.Calling software and hardware vendors to request service regarding defective products.Testing software and hardware to evaluate ease of use and whether product will aid user in performing work.Writing software and hardware evaluation and recommendations for management review.Writing or revising user training manuals and procedures.Training users on software and hardware or recommending outside contractors to provide training.Installing personal computers, software, and peripheral equipment.

The ideal candidate will posess the following skills, knowledge and abilities:Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related fieldMinimum of two years' experience in hardware supportMinimum of two years' experience supporting e-mail applications (Lotus NOtes preferred), Microsoft Office, multiple Microsoft Windows operating systems, and multiple Network operating systemsSAP experience, a plusSufficient knowledge of PCs and printers and other peripherals to be able to diagnose and repair themFamiliarity with a wide range of software productsKnowledge of Network software and hardwareAbility to prepare written documentation and user instructionsStrong verbal and written English communication skillsEffective problem solving skillsEffective small and large group presentation and training skillsIntermediate level Microsft Word, PowerPoint and Excel skillsMust be able to lift 50 pounds.Must be able to crawl under desks and work in tight spaces.
