Reports to: IT ManagerSummary

This position is an expert-level Macintosh Systems Administrator that is able to independently support all agency Mac workstations and users. Administrators in this position have extensive experience in desktop publishing software including QuarkXPress, Photoshop and Illustrator. Must also have experience in font management and PDF workflow. Technical proficiency in solving hardware, software and document level issues in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. A computer sciences-related degree or certifications help to prepare this position for success, but are not required.

 

Administrators in this position are required to participate in coordinating tasks/work orders and step in to assist other Support Specialists in completing tasks in a timely manner as well as escalate tasks when outside their expertise. Administrative assignments provide an opportunity to develop a broader perspective and be involved in operational procedures.

 

All experiences and requirements included in the other IT Support Specialist positions are expected to exist, or be progressively developing, in this position.  The Macintosh Systems Administrator is a leader that assists in the development of other techs/Support Specialists, and may be formally assigned as a mentor. Technical Skills required

?  Three to four years of related experience

?  Ability to troubleshoot Mac software problems, including problems with the operating systems (Mac OS X Panther and Tiger), applications, drivers, etc

?  Ability to troubleshoot Mac hardware problems, including problems with workstations, servers, drives, cards, printers, scanners, and other peripherals

?  Ability to troubleshoot Mac connectivity issues (TCP/IP, VPN, remote access, etc.)

?  Experience with the following: QuarkXPress, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Suitcase, Microsoft Office

?  Experience with disk imaging and ASR

?  Experience with Apple Remote Desktop

?  Proficiency with Mac utilities

?  Ability to automate system administration functions using Unix shell scripts, Perl, Python, and/or AppleScript

?  Familiarity with ssh and log file analysis

?  Experience with Macs in a Windows environment

?  Experience with Windows XP

?  Familiarity with Active Directory

?  An understanding of how the network, servers, domain controllers, databases, software deployment, and exchange servers work.

?  Well-versed in Track-IT including administration and reportingProcess Management and Quality Control

?  Resolve support requests

?  Install, upgrade, and maintain software, hardware, and peripherals

?  Perform general system maintenance and support
