Network Engineer (2006-23)

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides networking services under the direction of the Director of Information Technology.  Installs, configures and maintains organization's LAN and WAN. Builds LAN?s and WAN?s and administers the networks. Performs system backups on its internal and external web network servers. Designs and supports server system(s) and supporting software.

 

1. Provides network support to PIRE offices worldwide, diagnosing network (WAN and LAN)

  problems remotely and remotely administrator networks.

2.Monitor routers and firewalls

3.Monitors network for performance related issues.

4.Travels to remote site to install networking equipment and other hardware.

5. Program routers including VPN

6.Installs new servers and related software on both Novell and Microsoft servers.

7.Controls access to network resources.

8.Provides assistance as necessary to users and introduces network system to new users.

9. Performs other duties assigned.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelors Degree and four years of computer science experience.  Demonstrated knowledge of computer software/hardware, Windows Servers (AD) and Workstations, all revisions, NetWare, routers and switches including 3com Netbuilder, Cisco and HP Procurve routers.  VPN programming, both routers and clients (SafeNet). Familiar with video Conferencing, VoIP and QoS, Microsoft Office and Groupwise.  Must be able to trouble shoot network and computer problems and improvise solutions.  Ability to deal well with end-users.  Must perform tasks quickly and efficiently, often under pressure.
