Network Administrator
The Network Administrator?s role is to ensure the stable operation of RightNow Technologies world wide converged voice and data networks. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all LAN/WAN network hardware, software, telephony, and communication links. Other duties include capacity planning, traffic flow analysis, and implementation/maintenance of quality of service and redundancy. This position will also be responsible for analyzing and resolving end user hardware/software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required as it relates to RightNow Technologies corporate systems.
Responsibilities and Requirements
ResponsibilitiesManage servers, including but not limited to e-mail, print, DNS, SAN and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, VPN, ASC server and intrusion detection systems.Manage all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, wireless AP(s) and UPS(s).Manage Cisco AVVID environment including CallManagers, Unity voicemail servers, voice and video gateways/servers, QoS and all related end user peripheral devices.Network troubleshooting - Serve as an escalation point for helpdesk and systems administrators to eliminate or verify bottlenecks, outages, and other contributing factors in trouble tickets.Respond to network down emergencies and perform fault isolation and resolution. Initiate trouble tickets with carrier or vendor where appropriate.Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user hardware, software, and peripheral devices.Documentation ?Create and update network diagrams and traffic flow maps. Create procedures for support staff to use in diagnosing and identifying network issues. Create and update equipment inventory. Maintain configuration backups. Maintain static addressing documentation. Create and maintain physical wiring documentation to assist support staff in identifying commonalities.Ensure network connectivity of all workstations and VoIP phones.Administer all equipment, hardware and software upgrades.Perform network design and capacity planning in coordination with the Telecommunications administratorConduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.Perform network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.Establish service level agreements with end users.Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.Perform server and security audits.Perform system backups and recovery.Proactively monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
Position RequirementsAssociates/College Degree in the field of technology and/or 5-7 years equivalent work experience.CCNA, CCNP, CCIP, CCDA, Network +, MCSE/MCSA desirable.Working technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows 2000/2003, Linux, Cisco IOS, Cisco 6500, Cisco 3000, Active Directory and MS Exchange.Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including routers, switches, IP addressing, Firewalls, Security, VPN, TCPIP, routing protocols, layer 2/3 switching, wireless standards, VoIP, QoS, T1(s), MPLS, BGP, Paraxip and Voice Genie.Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience.Good understanding of the organization?s goals and objectives.Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.Strong written and oral communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills.Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.Highly self motivated and directed.Keen attention to detail.Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.Strong customer service orientation.Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Work ConditionsOn-call availability 24-7.Occasional Travel.Sitting for extended periods of time.Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
