Business Environment

HP's Information Technology Group is launching an exciting and aggressive data center consolidation and transformation program.Our intent is to have 6 global IT data centers in 3 different locations.  This has been determined to be the best approach for meeting efficiency goals as well as addressing business continuity and disaster recovery requirements.  Planning is now underway and data center space is being evaluated in Austin, Houston and Atlanta. Company senior leadership and HP's Board of Directors are sponsoring this initiative in order to reduce complexity and ultimately reduce costs. 

 

Job Description

As an OpenView Integration & Deployment Engineer in the Data Center Consolidation Automation Engineering team, you will be working with a team of engineers who are designing the standard monitoring, automation, and management systems for the new data centers. 

 

You will be involved in technology, tools, and product evaluation, configuration, and integration into overall business solutions. 

 

You will interface with the IT delivery organization to ensure that standard services are delivered consistently and work across service towers to ensure smooth integration of service specific tools into the horizontal automation infrastructure.  You will also work with the CTO office to ensure that the Enterprise Architecture reflects recommended service standards.

 

Key objectives include: 
Develop standard architecture and service capabilities for infrastructure and application monitoring.
Develop standard platform, configuration, and output for infrastructure reporting
Develop standard platform, data feeds, and business requirements for business reporting
Develop standard service capabilities for management systems such as service desk, workflow, and configuration management.
Develop integration plan for service and application specific tools into overall horizontal automation infrastructure
Migrate existing services and applications to new automation environment
Ensure predictable, reliable, simple and innovative delivery solutions that deliver cost competitive delivery models.
Align with product business groups and act as a showcase for HP tools and industry standard methodologies



Your Profile

Bachelors or undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience. Masters or graduate degree is desirable.


Experience includes:

Performing IT service engineering and/or service management roles

Developing IT monitoring or management systems

Ability to architect, integrate, and deploy the OpenView suite of tools (OVSD, OVO, OVIS, OVPA, OVPM, OVR, NNM, et. al.)

Knowledge or practical experience with other management platforms such as Peregrine Service Center and Microsoft Operations Manager desired

Contributing to operational review
