The PC Common Operating Environment (COE) service manager uses many tools and skills to be successful. Key skills are observation, curiosity, communication, patience and innovation.  The PC COE service manager educates management and staff to allow them to make good business and technology decisions about which solutions and technologies should be deployed within HP. 

The PC COE service manager investigates many topics with the purpose of gaining an understanding of all sides of the problems involved in building and maintaining services that are cost effective and meet business needs.  The PC COE service manager will be solely responsible for the entire value chain of HP's PC COE services from investigation through delivery of services to enable employees to productively use PC's, laptops.


One key role for the PC COE service manager is to remain current with many technologies. With the conitnued evolution of personal computing hardware and solutions this can be difficult.  The PC COE service manager must keep in touch with emerging solutions and evaluations of new versions of hardware and software.  This person must also be aware of internal procurement, provisioning and support processes to name a few as well as organizational relationships to ensure the service is fully optimized.

The PC COE service manager must be an excellent communicator and organizer. The investigative process often generates large amounts of information about an organization, it's people, data, and processes. The PC COE service manager must be able to draw back and make a simplistic picture which accurately captures the overview as well as propose strategy and solutions.

Bachelor's (undergraduate) degree in computer science, information systems,
 electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
Must have a minimum of 10+ years experience as a systems analyst.

Must have strong technical knowledge of PC's and laptops as well as the Desktop computing industry.

Must have a strong understanding of key vendor technology, roadmaps and strategies (Microsoft, HP SGBU, Symantec, Altiris, Adobe, etc.)
Experience in complex project management is a must.
A record of successful participation and leadership of teams.
A good knowledge of the business workings and functions.
Experience in Product demonstrations, customer training and product
 installation
Detailed knowledge of key customer types or customers on given products
Experience with business plan development, full software development life cycle (SDLC), software development, testing methodologies, and selling of
solutions
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Possess creative ability, consulting skills, leadership qualities, credibility, self-confidence
