Job Responsibilities

Position Summary:

We are looking for an experienced, talented, independent Principle Engineer II to lead the development of our next generation digital settop box devices. This is a senior level engineering position responsible for supporting the design, development, evaluation and deployment of digital set-top boxes. The individual will drive and take ownership of platform/product reliability and operational feasibility. The individual must have a combination of solid in-depth knowledge of digital electronics, video and audio systems, hardware development best practices, quality assurance goals, ability to work in cross-functional teams, extensive background in cable systems digital platforms, and 24x7 production environments.


Duties / Responsibilities:



Lead and drive manufacturers, developers and vendors to specify, validate & support deployment of Video Settop Box solutions to advance Comcast's digital television strategy

Work with vendors to complete and understand design of settop box hardware.

Develop and execute design validation tests to validate design meets requirements.

Assist in the field trial and deployment of the settop devices.

Support technical staff in resolving operational digital video system challenges

Configure, install, test & maintain laboratory equipment required to exercise Video settop boxes for design validation.

Provide digital video system guidance & assistance to field technicians

Provide engineering recommendations on the design products to meet the needs of the video settop industry.

Perform risk analysis and design reviews with vendors and developers

Create, publish and review technical specifications, procedures, test plans and test reports

Create and perform presentations and report findings to management up through the VP level

Occasional "off-hours" and/or "on-call" availability should be anticipated

Some travel is required

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:


Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

At least 7 years of outstanding track record as a contributor with strong engineering core competencies.

Must be flexible, independent, self-motivated and need little or no supervision

Must have excellent trouble shooting and problem solving skills and ability to triage issues

Must be customer-focused and possess strong people skills and teaming skills

Must multi-task on multiple products/projects, as well as focus on key issues.

Must be highly organized and possess strong technical leadership and communication skills
