Position Description

 

Senior Buyer / Purchasing Clerk - Works at the direction of a Purchasing Manager to obtain and create price quotes and purchase orders for IT hardware and software for ECI?s customers.  Acts as an expert resource to internal staff regarding product pricing, product availability, and product roadmaps.  Assists Purchasing Manager with inventory and product returns.  Depending on skill level, may have responsibility for one or two junior resources to assist with workload.

 

Knowledge

 

-  Computer Hardware Supplier Knowledge

-  Computer Software Supplier Knowledge

-  Price quote process knowledge

-  Purchase Order process knowledge

-  Inventory and Return process knowledge

 

Tasks in Position

 

-  Obtain pricing from suppliers to complete price quotes

-  Create purchase orders

-  Manage customer expectations and deliverables

-  Communicate product availability and delivery expectations

-  Understand and communicate product life cycle terms

-  Manage junior purchasing resources (e.g., assist with hiring, training, setting quarterly objectives, reviewing, etc.)

-  Identify and articulate continuous process improvement opportunities

-  Implement process improvement ideas

-  Manage work to system-driven performance metrics (turnaround time, accuracy, utilization, staff optimization)

-  Manage multiple assignments at one time

-  Conduct product research for/with engineers (periodically)

-  Process returns

-  Perform inventory assessment on monthly basis

-  Develop and enhance vendor relationships

-  Vendor Management & Negotiations

 

Skill Set / Talents

 

-  Ability to understand and communicate pricing and discount structures

-  Prior experience with purchasing tools to configure quotes / purchase orders / inventory / returns

-  Ability to manage staff to a performance scorecard

-  Ability to manage work to departmental performance metrics (performance metric mindset)

 Qualifications

 

Requires a bachelor's degree with at least 2-4 years of experience in the field

 

Work Requirements

 

Must be able to lift 40lbs
