Are you a Transact-SQL guru?  Is Query Analyzer your most used application?  Consider this:  MSC has an opening for a senior database/application programmer.  The job will include design, development and ongoing management and administration of marketing databases and related processes.  There is great opportunity to be creative and show off your SQL expertise! The position requires exceptional programming and analytic skills to design and maintain marketing data warehouses for our clients.

 

? Functions / Responsibilities

 Perform complex database programming typically by writing stored procedures within large scale data warehouses.  Perform complex database administration work. Involves planning, development, maintenance, optimization, and monitoring of company database systems. Participate in conceptual and design phases of new applications to ensure consistencies in the database environment. Individual should be highly self motivated and possess a demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technology solutions.Under minimal direction, design, develop (write code) and implement, troubleshoot, maintain, and update complex database applications.Work with users and analysts to determine user needs, write documentation as needed, and support other technical staff as required.Provide expertise and for physical database design, architecture, testing, performance tuning and implementation.Administer MS SQL database servers including setting up backup and planning for disaster recovery.Analyzing performance and load test results to ensure system scalability.You must have extensive knowledge of (and demonstrated working experience with) Microsoft Visual Basic programming language, SQL, HTML, Microsoft Windows, and systems analysis techniques. Background in client/server software development and relational database design.Mastery of data warehousing, ETL, and data analysis concepts.

 

? Technical Skills & Qualifications:

 Full mastery of MS-SQL databases and Transact-SQL with at least 4 years of solid professional working experience.Knowledge of how to implement and manage SQL Server, manage and write programs supporting clustering, partitioning and federated databases.Knowledge of Perl is a plus.7+ years of professional programming experience.3 years experience designing reporting systems.Other strengths that are helpful: ASP/VBScript, JavaScript, PERL, CSS and also modeling and analytical tools such as OLAP, SAS, SPSS.Understanding of retail database marketing.
