Service Desk Technician / Technical Support Specialist

Haley & Aldrich, a national consulting firm that meets strategic client needs in environmental, engineering, and management services, is seeking a Service Desk Technician / Technical Support Specialist to work at our Tucson, Arizona office.  The individual hired will also support offices in Kansas City (KS); Brea, San Diego, and Santa Barbara (CA); and other staff members located in the western U.S.

In this position, you will ensure nationwide company computer operation in conjunction with our East coast staff, so that end users can accomplish business and engineering tasks.  This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving end user help requests.  Problem resolution involves the independent use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools and occasional in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level.

Position requirements include a minimum of two years work experience in a service or help desk/support environment with proven analytical and problem-solving skills; knowledge of basic computer hardware, including Intel-based desktops, laptops, and servers; and experience with desktop operating systems, including Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP.Experience with Active Directory and wireless functionality is a plus.  Application support experience with Microsoft Office 2002-2003 and Office XP is required, as well as a working knowledge of a range of diagnostic utilities including VNC, ipconfig, ping, Event Viewer, Device Manager, System Information, Disk Administrator, etc.; good written and oral communication skills with working experience creating effective written documentation; balanced interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service, rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills; basic knowledge of tasks that involve network back-up tapes; ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues including Spyware and virus-related problems.
