System Support Engineer (OH)

Cogent Systems, Inc., a leading hi-tech development company in the field of image processing, is seeking a professional, self-motivated, detail-oriented System Support Engineer, based out of our Dublin Ohio office to provide system support to our customers.

 

As a member of our team, you will be responsible for the following:Planning, developing and implementation of backup and recovery solutions Participating in long range planning and design of systems meeting business objectives for resiliency and disaster tolerance Validating, resolving, and improving backup recovery processes and strategies Ensuring the stability and performance of backup infrastructure and their associated applications Creating and managing disaster recovery procedures Tuning systems for optimal performance Providing support and maintaining of configuration management for all systems Monitor and proactively support capacity planning and analysis Installation/troubleshooting/maintenance of Microsoft, UNIX and LINUX environments Installation/troubleshooting/maintenance of TCP/IP network environments Providing helpdesk level technical assistance to field technicians and customers



 

The selected candidate must have a bachelor's degree and at least five years of hands-on experience with the following technical skills and abilities:UNIX / Linux installation, administration and troubleshooting (HP, AIX, Red Hat, SuSE); Experience with various backup solutions and hardware (tape drives, SAN?s) Microsoft Windows installation, administration and troubleshooting TCP/IP networking and troubleshooting in a distributed client/server environment LAN/WAN internetworking and protocols Technical training on UNIX, Windows platform design and support Ability to quickly troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis Ownership and accountability for production level issues. Be able to write comprehensive detailed documents Excellent communication skillsMust have legal working status in the US  Must be able to pass a security background check




Working Conditions:Up to 75% Travel possible Off hours support and on-call responsibility as required by the needs of the business and support organization. This shared team responsibility will include evenings and weekends and may fluctuate as business needs changed
