JOB TITLE: Systems Support Specialist: AVID and Final Cut Pro

DEPARTMENT: Film, Video and Animation

REPORTS TO: Senior Systems Support Specialist,Director of Operations,and Film Chairman

POSITION OVERVIEW: Assists the Senior Systems Support Specialist with the daily administration of digital post-production technologies. Acts as liaison among students, administration, faculty and designated departmental personnel. Serves as the assistant and coordinator to the Senior Systems Support Specialist for the digital editing facilities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides task completion report and lab status report to the Senior Systems Support Specialist on a daily basis. Identifies hardware or software problems, responds to student, faculty and staff, requests, and suggests improvements pertaining to the lab and related technology.Coordinates facility resources to accommodate classes and student projects.Under supervision of Senior Systems Support Specialist, establishes lab procedures, policies and protocols for Continuing Education classes, day classes and student projects.Functions as the lab administrator during day/evening classes and lab shifts. Acts as coordinator for Continuing Education classes and day classes, relating vital information to faculty and students, and preparing class materials including manuals, videotape, tutorial disks and media.Executes all hard drive allocation and lab access schedules managed by the Senior Systems Support Specialist.Provides general troubleshooting support and software/hardware installations. Maintains existing video technology setups.Conducts and assists with workshops covering diverse aspects of lab use, from basic Mac introduction to advanced applications of AVID Media Composer, Final Cut Pro and other graphics software. Assists faculty when necessary.Assists in the design and implementation of new course materials and tutorials.Assists in training lab assistants the following: hardware installation, software installation, effective communication methods, general troubleshooting, and promoting an effective and efficient work environment.Executes dubbing and special editing projects from the department, Chairman, Director of Operations and SVA.Assists with the maintenance of repair records, inventory of hardware and software, document archiving, and updating and maintaining the lab technical library.Assists in the research of new equipment, upgrades, and pricing inquiries to vendors.Attends trade shows, seminars and classes to develop an understanding and awareness of important trends.QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor?s degree in Film preferred.Minimum of 2 years relevant experience.Advanced level knowledge of video post-production and hardware.Advanced level knowledge of Macintosh systems and hardware.Introductory level knowledge of AVID Media Composer software and Final Cut Pro software.Film editing experience.Strong management and communication skills.All cover letters and resumes should be sent to working@sva.edu .
