Test Engineer

CIBER, Inc. has multiple openins for Test Engineers in the Round Rock area that will be responsible for working on platform, peripheral, software, and special assignments that are moderately complex in nature. Requires good judgment to resolve problems and provide recommendations. Works from developed test plans and/or written or verbal instructions. Test prototype development systems, peripherals, and/or pre-released software for compatibility and functionality by performing test cases developed by Test Engineers.  The chosen candidates will perform software functional test on prototype development systems and pre-released software. Configure servers per test requirements, install OS and Open Manage (OM), execute test cases in Windows, Linux and Novell, enter test results into test drive, log issues for defects, reproduce defects, verify the defects fixed and regression. Test performance of BIOS, Firm Ware packages, driver packages, and Dell Open Manage Software on new server platforms. Review documents for technical accuracy.

 

REQUIREMENTS: The candidate must have hands-on computer experience with installing and troubleshooting server operating systems and system applications. Must have strong work experience with at least one of these three server operating systems: Windows, Linux and/or Novell. The candidate must have demonstrated ability in executing test cases uncovering software defects. Education: B.S. CS EE CIS MIS or equivalent work experience.

Required Skills:

OS : Linux, Windows Server, Netware (High competence in at least one OS on this list)
Device driver and storage subsystem configuration required
Networking: Be able to configure and troubleshoot TCP/IP network connectivity
SCSI: Be able to configure SCSI devices and troubleshoot SCSI conflicts
RAID: Familiar with common raid levels and be able to configure hardware and software (OS)
RAID: Familiar with RAID management software including performance considerations
HDD: Familiar with SCSI, SAS and SATA HDD technology
Tape
NAS
SAN
Familiar with fibre channel Topology and fibre devices
System Management Software
