Unix Systems Administrator
Primary Technical Skill: System Administration-UNIX
Start Date: 2 weeks from acceptance.
General Qualifications
Degree Preference: BS Computer Science - preferred
Job Description:
Work with a talented team of enterprise level Unix systems administration groups supporting 400+ Unix servers. Participate in support desk and 24 on call rotation.
Primary Responsibilities
1) Participate in systems management of a Sun/Solaris based Siebel application hosting environment.
2) Provide 2nd and 3rd level Unix server technical support to internal IT groups.
3) Installing, testing, troubleshooting and documenting server upgrades, configuration changes and patches.
4) Participating in customer projects. Gathering requirements, evaluating hardware and software, providing project recommendations, preparing BOMs and initiating equipment procurement.
Required General Skills
1) Ability to work in a team atmosphere
2) Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Required Technical Skills
1) System Administration-UNIX, with Strong Sun/Solaris experience.
2) Installation, Configuration and support of Sun servers in a large distributed environment.
3) Significant experience with TCP/IP and related protocols.
Preferred Technical Skills
1) Solaris 10 Container partitioning.
2) Linux systems administration.
3) Experience with Unix shell or Perl scripting.
4) IT infrastructure project management.
Work Schedule: 8-5 M-F
On-call Requirement: approx 2 days per month
Travel Requirement: occasionally
Avg Weekly Overtime Hrs: 4
