VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR/WEBMASTER

Seeking an individual with a B.S./ B.A. degree with educational emphasis in computer applications. Demonstrate research and excellent writing skills with working knowledge of website design and graphic creation skills. This position will provide overall coordination and maintenance of the website, graphic design, services and maintenance of internet based distant learning component. Two to three years experience required.

 

This position is located at The Salvation Army's beautiful College for Officer Training in Rancho Palos Verdes.

Position Title: Visual Communications Coordinator / Webmaster

 

Status:  Exempt

 

General Statement: The Salvation Army is a branch of the Christian Church, and the ultimate goal of all programs is a spiritual regeneration of all people.

 

Summary:   The VCC / Webmaster will provide overall coordination and maintenance of the Crestmont Website, Graphic Design services and maintain internet based distant learning component.

 

Qualifications:

? Demonstrate research and writing skills.

? Working knowledge of website design, and an aptitude for emerging

web technologies and potential applications.

? Strong design and graphic creation skills, with the ability to generate graphic assets for the site using Photoshop and Illustrator.

? Experience in the use of website management software such as Dreamweaver and GoLive.

? Knowledge of Blackboard is helpful.

? Motivation to expand the use and efficiency of the website.

? Creativity.

? Initiative.

? Good judgment.

? Sensitivity regarding confidential issues.

? Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.

? Knowledge and acceptance of The Salvation Army's mission and world view.General Duties: ? Create graphic design solutions for Crestmont as needed (brochures, icons, annual reports, etc.)

 ? Web design & maintenance.

 ? To train and assist officers and staff to develop course content in formats and quality suitable for Internet used in the Offsite-Studies, CFOT residential program, as well as other degree and non-degree programs made available to the Western Territory through Crestmont.

 

? To assist in the administrative input and oversight of multiple on-line courses.

 

? Provide technical assistance to students using Crestmont online courses.

 

Education: BA/BS degree and/or vocational training in related field. MA desirable.

Experience: 3 to 5 years experience in design, managing, maintenance of web sites and graphic design experience.

Specific Duties: In addition to the responsibilities listed above,

 

? Create/update content through research and copy writing.

? Participate in the graphic design of the website as the designer/programmer.

? Participate as a member of the IT committee.

? Develop guidelines, policies and procedures for creating and updating department web pages throughout Crestmont.

? Network with appropriate Salvation Army personnel in the West and other territories to report significant information and facilitate appropriate links.

? Process incoming website e-mail.

? Re-vamp, re-design website as needed to remain current and relevant.

? Keep current on Internet issues and technology.

? Remain current on Design and Typography issues ? by means of books, periodicals, classes, online seminars etc.

? Provide monthly progress/status reports regarding website content, goals, statistics usage, costs and potential.

? Assist as requested with duties relating to the activities and functions of Crestmont.

? Develop graphic design solutions for various publications.

? Utilize emerging technologies to continually enhance Crestmont?s mission.

 Software Applications:

 

Must have knowledge and experience using the latest versions of the following software applications:

 

Adobe Acrobat, Adobe GoLive, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Macromedia Fireworks, Macromedia Freehand.
