WEB DESIGN PROJECT MGR

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

PLEASE NOTE: This position can be in any Sun location.

Responsible for managing publishing projects related to the developer Web efforts. Must be able to lead and help to roll out/implement internet sites to meet and exceed business requirements.
Role would include the ability to work cross functionally across multiple groups to successfully aggregate and prioritize business requirements and determine and manage web processes from content, architecture, design, testing, and server release in accordance with Sun strategy. In this role, you will need to be able to effectively translate business needs and goals into effective Web solutions, understand/ communicate/adhere to procedures and guidelines, and effectively communicate and deliver upon target dates and expectations.
Job will require working closely with/influencing several disparate groups and proactively soliciting and gathering feedback to meet your goals. Ideal candidate is a hands-on, detail-oriented person willing to roll up sleeves and maintain tight schedules on multiple projects simultaneously. Must be able to enforce/communicate standards and requirements, be a customer-focused thinker, work with content management systems, and understand Web strategies and best practices. Requires excellent interpersonal skills.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Infrequent Travel

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
* Ability to think strategically, thoroughly analyze complex situations, identify key issues and successfully communicate relevant results.
* Experience in ongoing site management
* Experience with XML technologies, and work within database driven sites.
* Ability to work across organization boundaries on focused web projects and to work against tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment (including dispersed teams)
* Expert knowledge of Web publishing.
* Ability to follow and provide input into posted requirements, standards, and guidelines
* Ability to think conceptually/navigate through many large, complex sites and directory systems and determine site navigation/architecture based on feedback, goals and customer needs
* Detail-oriented, flexible person who can manage several projects concurrently and be willing to bend to meet the greater goals
* Strong communication and project management skills

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
* Minimum of seven years experience in the high tech industry in one or more of the following areas: Web marketing, Web development, marketing, or product marketing. This experience must include at least two years hands on Web experience, including publishing, best practices and project management.
* Expert knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, Java, JSP, and TeamSite.
* Experience using Solaris OS.
* Strong computer skills (Unix, Mac, PC)

MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION: BA/BS
