Description:
QVC's Information Technology division has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to become a Applications Developer II in our Application Development - Interactive & Broadcast Systems department at our Studio Park location.
The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating business opportunities and defining solutions and business rules based on interaction with internal customers. The candidate will design, develop, test, and implement efficient, cost effective application solutions. Coding will entail new programs and complex modifications to existing programs. Additional responsibilities include the identification of business requirements, devising system and programming alternatives and specifications. The candidate must take initiative in identifying business opportunities, defining alternative solutions and executing steps necessary to see tasks through to completion. Candidate must understand and embrace the systems development lifecycle.
This candidate will:
* With guidance, develop new object-oriented business applications and revise existing ones.
* Prepare test data and test plans.
* Perform unit and integration testing.
* Debug programs to locate the root cause of defects.
* Participate in the identification of business requirements.
* Assist in developing technical specifications.
* Learn and apply the QVC systems development project lifecycle (PLC).
* Update business documentation.
* Assist in database development - dictionaries, DDL, design, stored procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements:
? Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science or Related Field of Study.
? Must have: 3+ years of professional experience in application development.
Experience in the following areas preferred:
?Microsoft Visual Studio - C++,C,VBScript, COM/DCOM, IIS Web Server
?HTML, JavaScript, ASP, XML, XSLT,.NET,PERL,J2EE (IBM)
?Database, Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Server T-SQL
? Previous exposure to IT Architecture changes from Legacy environment to Enterprise Enabled a plus.
? Basic knowledge and use of system development lifecycle.
? Experience in the Retail Industry and/or High Transaction Rates Preferred
? Excellent oral and written communications skills as well as, sound judgment skills needed.
