COMPUTER NETWORK SPECIALIST

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position?s primary responsibility is the installation, set-up and testing of Wild Blue Satellite Internet Service on customers? PCs.  Connects internet equipment to customer?s computer. Performs off-air broadcast network signal strength test, per guidelines.  Tests installed system for conformance to specifications. Observes performance of internet connection.  Demonstrates and explains satellite Internet operation, network details, Wild Blue services, and installation requirements to customers.  Instructs customer in use of equipment.  Troubleshoots service problems related to the customer's PC relevant to both hardware and software.  Organizes daily schedule upon receipt of work orders from supervisor. Ensures that documentation is effectively completed and submitted, as appropriate.  Contributes to revenue through appropriate upsales. Ensures that the highest quality of service is provided to promote superior customer satisfaction.  Adheres to safety guidelines and requirements. Other duties as needed or assigned. Acts and looks professional, according to the specifications the Company?s personal appearance policy. 

 

REQUIREMENTS: Six months or more computer/technical experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer networking experience for residential and small businesses preferred.  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Working knowledge of satellite/internet installation services preferred. Must be willing to work flexible hours. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Valid drivers license with good driving record. Some travel may be required.

REQUIRED HOURS: This position is full-time (30-40 hours per week) and requires attendance at the work site eight hours a day, and 5 days per week on a consistent basis. Working evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime is often required.

 



COMPENSATION:  The compensation range for this position is $12.50 - $17.00 per hour.
