Computer Technician

CompUSA, unleashing the power of technology, is looking for a Computer Technician to work in our Technical Services Department in our Duluth SuperStore.  Under the direction of the Service Center Manager, builds and repairs computer equipment at a CompUSA SuperStore; provides technical support to customers via telephone, fax, and in person.  Ensures a complete purchase and a pleasant experience for the customer. 

 

This key player?s essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

Recommend selections that meet the customer's needs, and emphasize selling points of items such as quality, utility, versatility, etc.

 

Assemble customized computer systems based upon customer specifications; troubleshoot system components to ensure quality of work; assist with quality control activities by checking the work of other technicians.

 

Repair computer systems and other peripheral equipment; conducts a variety of diagnostic tests to determine repairs needed; make necessary repairs in a timely basis; communicate with customer as necessary to determine problem areas and repairs needed; ensure the highest quality of work produced.

 

Provide technical support to CompUSA customers vial telephone, fax, and in person regarding hardware, installation and other systems issues; assist store personnel with technical support issues.

 

Track and inventory vendor supplied service parts for equipment under repair; order parts as necessary; follow company established policies regarding the safekeeping and security of equipment under repair, departmental equipment and parts.

 

The professional we seek will have a high energy level with great interpersonal skills and thrive on multiple challenges. Qualified candidates will have a high school education or equivalent with the completion of technical training program in PC repair and 1-3 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training is required.  Experience in computer/electronics retail sales is preferred.  Team Members must obtain CTIA A+ Certification within 90 days.  While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to lift from floor to waist and above up to 30 pounds.
