Computer Technician II on Exciting Pacific Island

Background

Opportunity at the Reagan Test Site (RTS) located in the exotic and tropical island of Kwajalein in the Republic of Marshall Islands.  Reagan Test Site (RTS) complex includes a variety of radar, telemetry, and other instrumentation and communication systems.

 

This location is a beautiful, tropical setting in the central Pacific that offers year-round water sports and many other recreational activities. Kwajalein is similar to most American communities with schools, hospital, stores and all public works.  Crime is virtually non-existent and so is traffic, private automobiles are not authorized and bicycles are the primary mode of transportation.

Computer Technician II

Full Time/Unaccompanied

Responsibilities: Provide first line field technical support to computer system operators. Provide hardware and software repair and maintenance services to end users and Network Administrators. Act as first line trainer for user general applications and equipment.

? Provide user installations. Provide network connection, preparation of hardware; ensuring proper software is installed and user data integrity.

? Assist users to resolve hardware and software problems,

? Troubleshoot systems in the field and determining corrective actions.

? Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on computer systems.

? Repair/Replacement of computers; components and peripherals.

? Assist with repair/replacement of network components and cables.

? Conduct on-site/scheduled user proficiency training.

? Help Desk first line troubleshooting duty as requested.

? Provide feedback from users to track emerging/reoccurring problems.

? Maintain computer equipment, software, data and licensing in accordance with DOD Information Systems accreditation requirements.

? Prepare reports, studies and research as requested.

? Other duties as required or assigned.

 

 

Requirements:

 Degree or certifications in a computer science discipline or experience in lieu of education.Two years of experience in computer repairs, maintenance and software troubleshooting. SMS knowledge/usage a plus.Experienced in maintaining workstations in network environments.  Requires good customer interaction skills.Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and night work. Valid Driver?s License.
