Position Description: 

The Senior Database Developer develops data models (logical and physical), designs data access strategies and develops SQL code for our E-commerce Internet applications.  The candidate will gain deep expertise in InPhonic?s product catalog and order databases, which will be used to analyze requirements, design and implement solutions, and guide solutions development by other teams.  The candidate will meet and coordinate with the physical DBAs, Internet software development leads (within and outside the IT Ecommerce group), application programmers, testers and business unit analysts, to design solutions that meet the requirements of the entire organization. 

 

Skill Set:

?  Demonstrated experience in requirements analysis, planning, logical and physical database design, coding, testing, deployment, maintenance and optimization of SQL code. 

?  Experience developing data maintenance applications and data retrieval applications.

?  Efficient coding and tuning of SQL stored procedures, views, triggers, indexes, DTS packages, etc. 

?  Ability to create/maintain logical and physical data models using ER-Win.

?  Knowledge of data migration techniques and practices.

?  Understanding of Microsoft web technologies (ASP, XML/XSL, .Net) and development techniques.  Design, code, test and implement data access strategies for those applications.

?  Troubleshoot existing database issues.  Perform quality control, code review and standard data validation practices prior to production release. 

?  Proven ability to troubleshoot complex system problems and performance issues as needed.

 

Qualifications:

?  At least 7 years experience in SQL application systems development with an emphasis on database design and architecture; SQL Sever preferred.

?  BS in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent; Masters Degree a plus.

?  Significant experience in logical and physical data modeling, in a complex data base environment.

?  Extensive design skills for large volume/heavy access/high availability  (transactional) databases.

?  Experience dealing with scalability issues and distributed database requirements

?  Experience working in an eCommerce environment supporting high volume, transactional applications deployed on web farms a plus.
