Engineer-Data (Ntwk)

Description:
Configure LAN and WAN segments for the IL/WI IP Network.
Engineer, manage & maintain switched & routed networks.
Troubleshoot TCP/IP network issues utilizing network protocol analyzers.
Maintain all connectivity into Router networks within each network switching facility.
Configure new circuits within IL/WI Routers.
Maintain Router configurations, RIP and OSPF tables as well as system backups.
Maintain IP database for IL/WI region.
Support the planning & development of the evDO, IS-95, 3G1X, and CDPD Wireless Infrastructures for the IL/WI region.
Engineer, manage & maintain and support the IWU/IWFs currently deployed.
Support the management and expansion of the Wireless Data Network (WDN).
Monitor, engineer and improve the performance of the EVDO, IS95, 1XRTT and CDPD Data Networks DAILY.
Resolve customer trouble tickets as they apply to EVDO, IS95, 1XRTT and CDPD Data Networks.
Manage and/or support the implementation for all HQ data initiatives and serve as the technical interface with HQ.
Interact with vendors to drive product modifications & improvements to better meet customer requirements.
Maintain Cisco ATM switches, configurations and backups

Qualifications:
Required:
BS in Electrical/Computer engineering
CCNA or CCNP
2 years Networking experience with a complete understanding of IP internetworking and Routing.
Complete understanding of RIP and OSPF.
2 years wireless 2G/3G/evDO experience.
Thorough knowledge of personal computers & Microsoft Office.
Understanding of the Unix operating system.
Understanding of Firewall hardware and software.
Understanding of Sniffer software and hardware analysis tools.
Understanding of Frame Relay connectivity and configuration.
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (oral & written)
Advanced troubleshooting skills & problem solving abilities
Valid drivers license.

Preferred:
Router & Network Test Equipment Experience
Hughes CDPD Experience.
Unix / Perl knowledge.
Familiarity with system management and monitoring software.
Hand-on T1/T3 interconnects.
Fundamental understanding of ATM Switching.
