Work Location:

 

Office is located in Woodland Hills, CA corporate office.  Travel is minimal, can be 5 ? 20% of the time, depending on meeting schedules and workload.

 

Job Summary:

 

The IT Help Desk Support Specialists (HDSS) are responsible for providing all necessary telephone support required for Silgan Containers to run automated computer systems. Telephone support consists of logging problems into the Help Desk system, attempting to solve problems on own, dispatching problems to correct personnel if necessary, and following problems to resolution. The HDSS will assist the Field Support Specialists in installing hardware, installing software, and configuring of all other computer related equipment.  Researching new technologies and testing new technologies is a common practice.  The HDSS is also responsible for ordering, shipping, and receiving of computer related equipment.

 

Qualifications:

 

A four-year college degree in Information Technology, a two-year associate?s degree in Information Technology or related field experience is required.  Must have a working knowledge of Windows XP/98, DOS (Especially how to handle/edit batch files), the Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange administration, Client Access for AS400 (a plus), AS400 experience a plus, PC hardware and software troubleshooting and help desk troubleshooting skills.  Must be able to work independently or collectively with a team.  Must be able to establish a positive working relationship with internal and external customers.  Must be able to establish a positive working relationship with hourly production employees and with full IT staff.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

? Front line telephone support.

? Establish a good working relationship with internal customers.

? Thorough knowledge of Help Desk system.

? Development of Help Desk processes and software.

? Purchasing of hardware and software.  Monitor the delivery of those items so that projects stay on schedule.

? Identify company expectations that are not being addressed and communicate this to the IT management.

? Install computers, printers, and software in the office.  Provide training on all new hardware and software installed.

? Ship and receive computer related equipment.

? Perform other duties as assigned.

The work area is in a corporate office.  The employee must be able to maintain a high level of professionalism.
