Inspector/Auditor

Quantum Corp. (NYSE:DSS), founded in 1980, is a global leader protecting the world's mission critical data with simple, scalable storage solutions from the desktop to the data center. Responsibilities:Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of tasks including visual, mechanical and functional evaluation of purchased material, parts and subassemblies.  Also includes inspection of subassemblies and final product in manufacturing process prior to shipment to customers.  Understand, interpret: engineering drawings, supplier generated specifications and workmanship criteria.  Understand and adhere to Electrostatic Discharge protection guidelines.  Visually inspect all mechanical/electrical parts and subassemblies to engineering documentation.  Electro/Mechanical inspection of parts and subassemblies. Performs First Article Inspections  Determine the acceptance or rejection of procured material, parts and subasssemblies, using engineering drawing, specification and inspection instructions.  Generate Problem Reports (PR).  Record the results of all evaluations.
Perform process audits and inspections to insure compliance to established processes and workmanship standards.  Provide failure trend chart to supervision as requested.  Create and document work instructions for specific processes and functions.  Assist, train and provide guidance to employees regarding the proper handling of material within processes. Requirements:Requires at a minimum a high school diploma with proficiency in math.  2 to 4 years experience in a Production or Quality Control function with the ability to use standard inspection tools is desirable.  Very good written and oral communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict and work in a team environment is required.  Must be able to type 40 words per minute and have good computer literacy skills including MS Word and MS Excel.  This will be evaluated.  Candidate will have manual dexterity and be able to lift 20 pounds routinely during the workday.  Local candidates only.Quantum is and equal opportunity employer
