Linux System Administrator

Due to phenomenal growth, we are adding a junior level Linux System Administrator. In addition to the requirements below, the successful candidate, working as a member of the technology team, will work with all departments to install, test, maintain and deploy hardware and software systems on our high availability, customer facing network.

 

Required skills and knowledge:

 

? Minimum of 2-5 years demonstrating Linux systems administration in a production environment.

? Experience with multiple Linux distributions, primarily Whitebox, Cent OS and RHEL.

? Configuration and maintenance of common applications such as Postfix, Apache, Tomcat, NFS, SSH, DNS, and SNMP.

? Strong knowledge of Linux kernel configuration, performance monitoring, and tuning.

? Perl or Bash scripting.

? Experience working with load balancing technologies and web server farms.

? Experience with large-scale (multiple-TB) NAS/SAN environments (especially EMC).

? Proven ability to quickly learn and implement unfamiliar technologies.

? Proven ability to quickly isolate and troubleshoot issues under pressure in a production environment.

? Previous experience as a member of an Internet based IT operations team.

? Experience working closely with in-house developers in deploying, maintaining and debugging software.

? Be part of an on-call rotation schedule.

? Ability to clearly document, design and procedural information.

? Good written and verbal communication skills.

? Strong organizational skills.

 

 

Preferred skills and knowledge:

 

? Prior hands on experience with Dell PowerEdge servers, RAID and Oracle and ColdFusion server administration.

? Experience with backup software (NetVault, NetWorker).

? Prior experience in benchmarking new technologies and providing concise feedback to management.

? Experience working with host security applications (Osiris, Samhain)

? Ability to build RPMs and maintain Kickstart.

? Experience with Solaris.

? Experience with RSync, CFEngine, AmavisD, YUM and SSH Public Keys.

? RHCT, RHCE or other relevant certifications.
