Manager, Design Engineering

Responsibilities:

Manage a functional group of R/W channel engineers through all phases of product development including:

Channel IC development - (preamp, Write drivers, analog Channel) Drive Architecture and operating point development including spec generation, supplier selection, supplier management, characterization and testing of results.

Channel test plans - Oversee drive debug in support of Engineering test and introduction to production. Responsible for generating, maintaining, and achieving required schedules to meet product launch goals. This includes scheduling of department development tasks, priority resolution, and channel related problem resolution.

Product planning - As a key member of the product development team, participate in product definition and architecture for channels, oversee support of heads, media and other drive development functions involved as a systems engineering function.

Budgeting - Responsible for generating and managing department budgets for materials, channel ASIC NREs, lab materials and equipment.

Staffing and people management - Maintain required staffing levels, provide guidance, direction, and career development for a small department of engineers.

 

Requirements:

BSEE in electrical engineering, Minimum of 10 yrs related data storage experience, Experience as team lead or management experience required as well as  R/W channel development in storage industry.
