NOC Network Engineer

Based in Herndon, Virginia, Multimax the leading enterprise network integration solutions provider is currently looking for a NOC Network Engineer to join us in Quantico, VA. 

 

This position provides rapid recovery of an enterprise network and perform network maintenance. Works to ensure that the site network and network management environment is reliable and that performance exceeds that of contracted service levels. In this position, you may work on portions of the network carrying classified information. Operates under the supervision of the NOC Operations Team Lead. Uses established commercial best practices to develop templates and documentation to improve operational procedures.  Responsible for the implementation of engineering processes that provide for a timely and appropriate integration of all engineering disciplines to ensure a network system meets all requirements including Service Level Agreements.  Identifies and evaluates problems.  Determines the risk areas and mitigates their impact.   Implement and maintain management systems to support fault detection, correlation, performance metrics, and reporting to support service level agreements.  Work with the Project Services group to recommend and test effective solutions for global network.   Reviews and maintains configuration standards for network equipment.  Serves as an escalation point for network issues, including backbone routing, customer router configuration, and Internet related services.  Documents all work performed.  Provides mentorship and guidance to technicians with implementation and maintenance of the network.  Continued knowledge and certifications of competencies will be expected to be acquired and maintained particularly on the CISCO equipment.

 

APPLICANTS SELECTED WILL BE SUBJECT TO A BUREAU SECURITY INVESTIGATION AND MUST MEET ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCESS TO CLASSIFIED INFORMATION.

 

Minimum requirements include; Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience in related field. Cisco certifications CCNA required, CCNP a plus.  At least 5 years experience that includes operational support, hands-on implementing and configuration of network devices such as servers, routers, hubs, switches, UPS, desktop computers, and cabling in a large LAN/BAN/MAN/WAN environment.  Strong knowledge of trouble ticketing software (Remedy) and network monitoring solutions (Tivoli NetView and CiscoWorks).  Previous experience working on military bases/sites, including previous military service highly desirable.  Strong communications, writing and editing skills needed to transfer information to individuals involved in the networking process. Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
