Network Support Specialist

Overview : Part-time, Weekend nights, 11:30-8:00am.

Responsibilities :

The Network Support Specialist provides initial support to end users to resolve hardware, software or peripheral problems. Coordinates problem solving analysis with other IS team members as indicated. Configure, install, maintain and repair a variety of desktop products, including PC's, printers and peripheral devices. Performs reliable repair and corrective action follow-up. Logs and tracks all incoming calls to resolution in a timely manner. Monitors and maintains current system security policies, nightly backups, and quality assurance issues related to system performance, including AS/400, LAN and PC based software application and hardware setups.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Triage computer and network problems from hospital employees, physicians and physician Staff, other healthcare providers, and support vendors.

Courteously and professionally answer numerous phone calls in a call center environment.

Document and follow numerous processes covering hundreds of applications. Clearly communicate and coordinate with co-workers.

Follows all policies and procedures and with respect to network security and confidentiality.

Understand applications and utility software to comfortably work with computers remotely and assist users with many applications and processes of connectivity.

Be able to speak to people of varying levels of knowledge of computer systems and be able to quickly gauge a person's aptitude.

Follows safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions, reports/removes unsafe equipment and attends safety education sessions.

Qualifications :

An Associate degree is preferred and two years experience in Information Systems or a related field. Microsoft MCP certification or A+ certification is a plus. Maintains an acceptable level of proficiency in technical and non-technical aspects of computer systems in a rapidly developing technology environment.

Incumbents must have strong analytical, problem solving, customer relations and multi-tasking skills. Basic knowledge of desktop hardware and software plus proficiency working with AS/400 or equivalent system support experience to include Windows, MSOffice Internet, Local Area Networks and peripheral devices. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and prioritize daily workloads, work under pressure with a team or independently. Maintains a high degree of customer care response, technical knowledge and skill readiness. Use patience, tact, and diplomacy to establish working relationships with people of widely diverse backgrounds and computer experience.
