R&D Opto Mechanical Engineer

Albin Engineering has an opening for an R&D Opto Mechanical Engineer to work with prospective customers to understand and clarify the specifications for their optical product, assembly, or component. The candidate will work with marketing and production to generate quotes and proposals, then design product, processes and tooling to fabricate, coat, assemble, align, test, and document the product for release.

 



Required Skills:BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering9+ years of practical R&D experience designing and developing precision opto mechanical productsMust be an expert user of 3D mechanical modeling tools (OneSpace). Must have the ability to work in a multi-disciplined, cross-department environmentMust be a US citizen

 

Desired Skills:Ability to design and model precision mechanical fixtures and processes for assembly and alignment of optical components to the micron and micro radian levelWorking knowledge of structural stress, load and resonance, including the ability to design and characterize them for stabilityWorking knowledge of optical metrology tools such as Fizeau Interferometers, Autocollimators, etcExperience with optical assembly and alignment techniquesExperience with optical bonding with and without adhesives
