RF Hardware Engineer

Our client is a leading member of the ZigBee Alliance, and their platform is the National Technical Systems’ (NTS) “Golden Suite” for 802.15.4/ZigBee interoperability.  They were named one of Red Herring's "Top 100 Innovators" for 2004 and Fortune Magazine's "Cool Companies."  Their cutting edge technology enables communication among embedded microcontrollers with standards-based wireless mesh networking semiconductors and software.  Their technology covers a wide range of applications, i.e., automation of home appliances, lower energy consumption in buildings, keeping borders and infrastructures secure, and controlling industrial processes.


Lead the development of board-level hardware for internal and customer specific applications. This position requires the ability to perform all phases of hardware design and development; design, schematic capture, PCB design, BOM creation, test and debug.  Requires knowledge of transmission line and antenna design theory within the unlicensed 2.4 GHz frequency spectra. Also interfaces directly with FAEs (Field Applications Engineers), core software developers, IC designers and customers to extract requirements and maintain design integrity.  Must have knowledge of best-practice board design principles, use of test equipment, and manufacturability guidelines.


Requirements:
 Minimum of five years experience designing, building and testing at the board level RF hardware including: RF Transceiver Chips, matching networks, and RF front ends (LNAs, PAs, Baluns, and filters).
 Experience designing and implementing custom antennas in the unlicensed 2.4 GHz (ISM) frequency spectra.
 Low power design experience for battery life applications.
 Experience using Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers and Signal Generators.
 Experience with automated RF Testing.
 Experience with Orcad (Cadence) Capture and PADS (Mentor Graphics) PowerPCB a plus.
 Experience working with internal engineering teams and customers/marketing to help extract and refine requirements.
 Excellent writing and communication skills.
 Experience working in a startup environment a plus.
 Previous exposure to RFIC designs a plus.
