SENIOR STAFF HARDWARE ENG

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Responsible for conceptual and detail engineering of electro-mechanical packaging for mid to high volume 19' rack mounted computer and/or electronic enclosures and delivering on aggressive program schedules.

* Independently develops and executes analysis and testing to drive design solutions to multiple complex mechanical engineering problems while negotiating cross-functional and cross-discipline requirements (i.e., emi vs. thermal, design for manufacturing/service vs. cost, etc.) into productizable solutions.

* Design tasks include, but are not limited to, sheet metal and plastic parts/assemblies, integration of cooling solutions, PCBA mechanical specification and interconnect design, ASIC/heatsink attach,internal power distribution, and designing for EMI and safety compliance. Analysis and testing tasks include, but are not limited to, stress/strain/deflection analysis/testing due to static, dynamic, thermal loads, and potentially electronic cooling aspects of designs.

* Additional responsibilities include part and assembly design, database checks, tolerance analysis, BOM development along with managing outsourced vendors and/or consultants and supporting bringup of hard tooling as maybe required for your designs.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
* Representing product design interests and requirements while interacting with cross-functional team members, vendors, and while traveling domestically and abroad.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
* Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals with demonstrated ability to perform closed form solutions to scope mechanical engineering issues.
* 4+ years of finite element experience for stress/strain/deflection estimates and dynamic response estimates.
* 7+ years hands on design experience with using an MCAD code
* 7+ years experience engineering mid to high volume electronic enclosures with some experience in designing for high-volume tooling (sheetmetal and plastic)
* Understanding of design for manufacturability, serviceability
* Demonstrated ability to perform statistical tolerance analysis
* Good verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to write clear engineering reports and presentations
* Good collaborative teamwork skills

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
* Development of specifications for outsourced design and managing outsourced vendors and/or consultants
* Demonstrated ability to lead small to medium engineering design teams
* Experience designing 19' rack mountable server products
* Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing techniques
* Experience with ProEngineer 'Top Down Design' techniques
* Experience with statistical design of experiments (DOE)
