Position: SQL Database Administrator

 

Skills needed:

 

Senior level SQL DBA experienced in SQL 2005, particularly advanced migration strategies for migrating all current & previous versions of Microsoft SQL to SQL 2005. Candidate will be experienced at data mirroring and replication, developing and implementing Disaster Recovery operations procedures to minimize downtime for all database instances.

 

Design and setup for database client access and usage and update databases through application upgrades. Development and documentation of efficient procedures for maintaining current DB software levels. 

 

Manage the operation databases, monitor and make changes to improve database performance: review applications and recommend modifications to improve data access performance: design and code utilities to support the database administration function and maintenance of backup operations.

 

Coordinate and maintain technical contact with database and business application vendors.

 

Develop new or modify existing solutions for HR reporting needs using database vendor reporting tools and third party reporting applications.

 

Create and modify PL/SQL database scripts for reporting, manipulation, importing and exporting of data.

 

Experience with Microsoft MOM

 

General position description

The SqlServer Database Administrator is part of a global team of DBAs that provides 7x24 support in the SqlServer enterprise environment on a Windows platform.  The SqlServer DBAs develop and refine standard operating procedures to reduce failures and recovery time. The SqlServer DBA is responsible for the SqlServer database backups in the enterprise environment and maintains standbys for mission critical databases. In addition to handling database alarms and pages, the SqlServer DBA also handles customer requests including new database configurations, installations and upgrade requests, database space requests, and database tuning requests. The SqlServer DBA may lead small projects or multiple small projects with medium-sized groups performing similar tasks. The SqlServer DBA works on complex problems/projects where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.
