STAFF HARDWARE ENGINEER

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This position is for a senior level mechanical design engineer to develop mechanical packaging for high end server products. This is a highly visible position for an engineer that shows the ability and attitude to get things done quickly, efficiently, rigorously and in a cooperative spirit with the balance of the product engineering team.
You will be involved in all aspects of the product design and development process, including coordination with other engineering groups to define requirements; develop mechanical design concepts and solutions; participate in the review and evaluation of those concepts; perform engineering analysis including tolerance analysis, stress and deflection analysis, design coordination with the thermal engineers; develop detailed engineering designs using Pro/Engineer Wildfire; write test plans to verify the design through prototypes; productize the designs including reviews with manufacturing, serviceability, and other product engineering and production organizations; conduct design reviews; communicate engineering information to other engineers, management, and other groups both formally and informally.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
* Working knowledge of acoustics
* Alternate CAD systems (SolidWorks, Unigraphics, AutoCAD)
* COSMOS/M Finite Element software
* Flotherm

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
* 10 years' experience, with increasing responsibility, in design of electronics packaging for mid to high volume production
* Solid working knowledge of Pro/Engineer Wildfire
* Thorough understanding of mechanical tolerances and tolerance analysis of complex electro mechanical assemblies
* Mechanism design such as card injector/ejectors
* Working knowledge of enclosure design for EMI/EMC attenuation for FCC Class A & Class B requirements
* Ability to develop plans and schedules for your project
* Working knowledge of electrical interconnect systems
* Extensive experience with mechanical design of printed circuit assemblies
* Must work well with suppliers / manufacturers
* Working knowledge of industry standard documentation and configuration management principles and implementation

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
* Working knowledge of thermal management techniques and principles
* Expert level knowledge of Pro/Engineer
* Working knowledge of shock and vibration
* Experience in / working knowledge of finite element analysis (ANSYS preferred)
* Prior experience leading engineering teams
* Strong understanding of materials and finish processes
* Machine design experience

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 10

MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION: BSME

FIELD OF STUDY: Mechanical Engineering

ADDITIONAL COURSE WORK: Thermal Management; shock and vibration design and analysis; ANSI Y14.5 GDT; finite element analysis
