Server Hardware Engineer

Job Summary:   This position is for a high level individual contributor with demonstrated architecture and leadership abilities, in the storage server platform hardware development organization.  The candidate will define, specify, design, develop, verify, and deliver world-class storage servers to production, and will help support the products through their product life.  The candidate will be responsible for design leadership of server platforms and platform families, and will be leading internal teams or development partners, as well as providing individual contribution to product development.  The candidate?s initial focus is on microprocessor based servers, but long-term growth opportunities may include products throughout the entire product line, with opportunity for both technical and leadership growth throughout your career. 

 

Essential Functions:

The candidate will participate in or lead a technical team that develops new file server products.  The candidate will take responsibility for all phases of product development including architecture, documentation, design, prototyping, validation, and support and will work with product marketing, software development, manufacturing, customer support and external vendors, in a project team environment to accomplish product definition and delivery.


In addition to delivering product, the candidate will track technology trends and contribute to setting technical direction, as well as helping the development and marketing organizations to ensure that has the proper product portfolio to stay competitive and keep customers satisfied.  You will contribute to the implementation and application of design processes.


Requirements:



Must have:
BSEE/CS or equivalent with 7+ years of experience
At least 4 years of Project Management Experience
Managing ODM partners by providing specifications, tracking design progress, taking corrective actions, providing test guidelines, coordinating activities with ODM partners, etc.
Extensive experience in working with engineers from HW, FW and SW
Experience in memory technologies and IO subsystems
Good Debug and Problem solving skills using Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers and Protocol Analyzers
Knowledge of Server or Embedded Class microprocessors and chip sets
Knowledge on complex board level designs ? Server Class motherboards, Memory Boards, etc.



Some of the following:
Design of PC motherboard, embedded microprocessor products
Extensive knowledge on PCI and PCI-e
Memory Controller Design for DDR and DDR2 memories
Knowledge on power systems, packaging and cooling
Experience in working with third party (ODM) design teams
Leading a project team from concept to production and early support
