Assists with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of new software or making enhancements to existing software programs. Applications generally deal with utility programs, job control language, macros, subroutines and other control modules. May customize purchased applications and assist in maintaining program libraries and technical manuals. Performs maintenance on existing software products. Writes programs according to specifications from higher level staff or business analysts. Makes suggestions for problem solutions or software enhancements. May assist in development of user manuals. Works with technical staff to learn and understand problems with software.

Software Systems Programmer Analyst 2 to 3
This position is responsible for analyzing and evaluating information systems operations and providing technical recommendations to improve up time and utilization. This position reviews records and reports of production, machine malfunctions and maintenance as well as organizational, procedural, and workflow plans and methods. This role may train less experienced employees. This role serves as a technical resource on various special projects as well as day-to-day operational support.

This position is responsible for supporting Progressive's Data Center facility. This individual will have an emphasis on Mainframe Hardware support with experience on multiple systems and configurations. This key individual will have background with Tape Silos, SAN, CPU, DASD, and cabling infrastructure. This role also supports AIX, Windows Operating Systems, Telecommunications, and plays a role with our Facilities Department and Security Department. This position is required to work multiple shifts for training and for their normal work hours. The initial starting point will be third shift. The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to work with vendors and other IT organizations within Progressive. The right candidate will be a self-motivated, hard working person with excellent written and oral communication skills.
We are seeking 7-10 years of work experience in a large scale environment (preferable) and exposure to like systems and vendor hardware. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Math or equivalent work experience.
