Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer

Verari Systems, the premier developer of powerful, flexible and scalable platform-independent systems, located in San Diego is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer.

 

The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer participates in the design of high performance computing (HPC) server racks including multi-system blade servers, 1U and 2U HPC servers, and RAID storage options.

SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITIES:



 Interpret design specifications, create conceptual and detailed designs, perform trade studies and analyses and generate detailed design documentation. Strong analytical background coupled with practical design solutions meeting quality, on-time delivery and cost objectives. Use analytical tools, i.e. thermal and structural analyses and FEA at top assembly and sub-assembly levels to ensure robust and reliable products, with an ability to verify design and for optimization purposes. Close interaction with engineering team including, hardware engineers, technicians, document control and operations. Design products applying principles of DFM and DFA. Support fabrication, assembly, test of prototype, pre-production and production hardware. Collaborate with multiple departments, vendors, and customers to design and manufacture products that fulfill design intent, as well as, achieve budget and schedule goals. Generate supporting documentation (i.e. solid models, drawings, engineering reports, test plans, BOM, Engineering Change Orders) Lead projects and programs as required. Interpret design specifications, create conceptual and detailed designs, perform trade studies and analyses and generate detailed design documentation.

 

EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:MSME or BS in mechanical engineering. Working knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing equipment and processes High and Low Volume sheet metal design experience Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, etc) 7+ years experience in electronic packaging and design of computer systems 7+ years experience with 3-D CAD modeling; Solidworks and PDMworks 3+ years experience in Finite Element Analysis; COSMOS, CFD ( Flotherm, Fluent) experience is a plus Strong working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Able to work both independently or as part of a team Able to manage multiple program schedules to ensure timely completion of tasks Good verbal and written communication skills Statistical analysis, reliability and six-sigma knowledge
