Sr Systems Analyst (IT)
Description:
The incumbent designs advanced systems by researching and evaluating complex business systems to develop detailed understanding of user needs. Designs, implements, analyzes, and modifies systems for various applications. Works with users to define system requirements and creates resolution. Regularly leads small to medium size projects and provides guidance to staff members.
Works as a team member on large, highly complex technical/programming projects under minimal direction of senior staff and management.
Regularly leads small to medium size projects, performs project management activities such as planning, sizing, configuration and scheduling activities. Develops solutions and makes decisions that impact projects and staff members.
Performs analysis, writes program specifications and develops designs for medium to large size projects OR performs analysis, resolves problems and monitors to proactively prevent problems from occurring.
Evaluates options for meeting user needs, and ensures that system requirements are identified, prioritized and incorporated in an effective, efficient manner.
Troubleshoots complex development and production application problems and provides technical and production support on an on-call basis.
Performs technical evaluation of products.
Overview of the Proj Mgmt skill set required:
The Senior Business/Project Analyst will manage multiple, concurrent time and mission critical new system enhancements to our Consumer Internet Service applications.
Key functions and responsibilities will include:
o Project Planning - Work breakdown structures, critical path analysis, schedules, budget & resource tracking, etc.
o Requirements Management - Oversee the Analysis phase deliverables including approach paper
o Project Controlling - SCM- Software Configuration Management, status reporting, change/scope management, jeopardy detection/ resolution, etc.
o Project Communications - Agendas, meeting notes, documenting / refining work flow processes, stakeholder notification, etc.)
o Issue and Risk Management - Contingency and mitigation plans for critical schedule dependencies, resources, tools, technologies.
o System and User Acceptance Testing Coordination - Oversee test plan(s) development, test cases, tracking issues & resolution, go/no go checkpoints
o Use of project management tools - Create/ Maintain charter and planning docs, dependency based schedules, status reports, tracking logs, scope and risk management docs-using MS Word, MS Project, Excel, VISIO, etc.
o Project Implementation - Building implementation guides and schedules, managing cross functional business teams utilizing new systems, user assistance, issue resolution, post production support
o **Special Requirement: working knowledge of interfacing systems data & functionality dependencies with billing, pos, my account, etm/ wfm, etni, dmd, etc.
o Travel required at times - mostly West Coast - Bellevue, Irvine, No Cal
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
4 years of relevant experience.
Strong knowledge of methodology, tools, standards and procedures.
Subject matter expertise and strong business knowledge.
Excellent technical/analytical skills (e.g., systems design) and/or strong programming and design skills.
Working knowledge of project management concepts
In depth knowledge of information systems concepts.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Strong decision-making and leadership abilities
Strong organizational and problem solving abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Prefer:
o VZW Information Technology Experience (or Telecommunications industry)
o Hands on End to End Systems Life Cycle Experience
o Testing & Implementation Experience
Special Talents Highly sought:
o Proven, Hands on experience with the management/implementation of large scale internet based system development and delivery processes
o 4 years of experience in Business Requirements Analysis and Technical Project Management
o Experience in web services (SOA) solutions
