Sr. Systems Engineer - TLRTS - Intel Systems Services

TLR Technology Services (TLRTS) is an exciting and dynamic organization that provides systems support, enhancements, and consultation for the selection and implementation of TLR and Thomson business systems.
We are looking to add a Systems Engineer to participate on a team supporting Intel based servers running Microsoft technologies. Primary responsibilities include managing projects, installing and supporting server operating systems, and managing BackOffice software environments. Systems Engineers must be able to manage project work, exhibiting strong time and project management skills. This is a 3rd shift position (nights).
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Technology ( 40%)
? Support enterprise environment with 4,000+ Intel-based Windows 2000, 2003 and NT 4 servers
? Acquire and maintain technical skills for professional development
? Handle ongoing maintenance e.g., service pack installations, hot fixes, software upgrades, etc.
? Demonstrate sound problem solving skills
? Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring problems
? Research and develop project/automation solutions
Leadership & Communication (20%)
? Lead or work on a variety of virtual teams with members of multiple groups to proactively address support issues
? Work independently on tasks with minimal guidance
? Project leader for some projects providing task direction to achieve project goals
? Deliver regular status updates to project team and management
? Follow up on outstanding issues with project team and management
? Evaluate and recommend process and technology improvements
? May conduct informal training and chalk talks
Management & Administration (20%)
? Carry a 24x7 pager and participate in rotating pager schedule
? Exhibit strong organizational, analytical, multitasking and prioritization skills
? Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation
? Serve as a problem escalation point
? Help form and meet project schedules and timelines
? Utilize company incident/change management systems
? Submit weekly time accounting
Business (20%)
? Understand Thomson / TLR product lines and TLRTS supported technologies
? Understand internal business processes and how they affect the Corporation
? Understand the key business competitors and the key internal and/or external customers supported by the group
? Understand strategic vision at the project level. Help form and implement project strategy.
? Translate business requirements into technical solutions
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
BA, BS or AA plus 1 - 2 years experience in related work or equivalent work experience.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
? Working knowledge of Microsoft Server Operating Systems
? Microsoft Certified Professional in Windows 2000 or above (preferred)
? Active Directory
? Server virtualization experience is a plus
? Altiris, Citrix, SMS, or Exchange administration experience is a plus
? Scripting/automation skills (e.g. VB Script) and experience with WMI a plus
? Adept at researching technology solutions with all available resources e.g., TechNet, Microsoft PSS etc.
? Proven analytical and trouble shooting skills
? Ability to set scope and deliver quality results
? Ability to determine and assign tasks to others to achieve project goals
? Understanding of storage, network and hardware technologies a plus
? Proficient with web and development technologies
? Utilize change management systems and maintenance windows to achieve highly available enterprise systems
? Expert in at least one non operating system technology
? Ability to work 3rd shift hours (nights)
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
? Preferable 1 - 2 years of Microsoft Operating System experience
? Demonstrated project guidance with delegation experience a plus
? Preferable 1+ years of direct customer service experience
