Sr. UNIX / Linux Engineer

One of the newest and most impressive Data Centers with new top of line and cutting edge technology is currently hiring a Senior Level UNIX/Linux Engineer. Responsibilities would include overseeing the planning, coordination, configuration, installation, and management of all network servers and related client services within the enterprise to meet business requirements. Design and implement enterprise servers, including infrastructure and mission-critical applications.

 

Having key responsibility for the identification and resolution of hardware and software technical problems and malfunctions related to network enterprise infrastructure and all related servers. Sr. Engineer will make critical decisions in the areas of throughput analysis, problem solving and server infrastructure planning, which have the potential to influence the success of business transactions. Proactively researches and locates necessary tools and processes to identify troublesome trends as they develop. Ensure a stable performance environment for the enterprise systems. Participate in various IT projects intended to continually improve/upgrade the enterprise servers.

 

Required Skills:

?  In depth technical knowledge of virtualization (VMware ESX and/or AIX Advanced Power Virtualization preferred), including best practices, capacity planning, SAN interaction and backup/restore procedures.

?  Demonstrated ability with automated systems management and deployment tools (AIX NIM, Scripting, etc)

?  Demonstrated knowledge of the following technical knowledge/skills are mandatory, including from among the following:

?  Hardware: IBM,  Dell, EMC, HP, and Compaq

?  OS: AIX Expert, Suse and Red Hat Linux

?  Design: Security, Perl, DNS, EMC and SAN Technologies, FTP, Operational automation, and High Availability/Clustering (HACMP)

?  A broad range of technical knowledge/skills are desired, including from among the following:

?  Network: TCP/IP, IPX, SNMP, Ethernet, routers, hubs, switches, and security protocols.

?  Technology: Samba,  Database, VPN and Radius

 

Experience

?  Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline

?  Minimum of Five years of related experience in mission-critical large enterprise environments performing network engineering (hardware and software), and designing, planning, and implementing servers and infrastructure using the latest technology

?  IBM Certifications in LPAR, HACMP and PSeries desirable

?  Minimum of Five years of experience working with Red Hat and Suse Linux
