UNIX/Linux Systems Administrator

Position Description:

? Senior member of a team charged with supporting 700+ Linux/AIX/Sun/HP servers in an Enterprise Data Center 24x7

? Support the Operating System, Web Server (Apache, Netscape), and WebSphere

? Apply patches, install software, manage file systems, and monitor performance

? Troubleshoot alerts from monitoring system for system error conditions (system down, disk full, CPU busy, memory full etc.)

? Service tickets submitted by developers

 

Skills Required:

? Experience supporting a network of at least 100 systems 24x7

? Managing the escalation of cross-functional problems with multiple vendors

? Leadership experience (of a team or of an implementation)

? In-depth troubleshooting of at least 2 Unix operating systems (HP-UX, Solaris, AIX, Linux)

? Experience automating tasks using a scripting language (ksh, perl etc.)

? In-depth experience with at least 2 Volume Managers (Veritas, HP LVM, IBM LVM, SUSE LVM, Sun SDS)

? Customer interface experience (managing expectations; negotiating compromise solutions)

? B.S. in technical field or 5 years experience

 

Skills Preferred:

? WebSphere support

? Data Center experience with change control/ticketing systems

? SAN experience (EMC BCV, SRDF; Powerpath; DMP)

? Experience defining technical standards for an organization

? HA Clusters

? UNIX/Linux and/or WebSphere Certifications
