Unix/AIX Engineer

Position Description

Performs successful planning, configuration, implementation and on-going support of vendor-supplied hardware, software and operating system solutions. Engage on presale activities with members of the sales team including technical briefings and demonstrations of new technologies. Researches new technical products emerging in specialty field and advises MSI management team on benefits / opportunities related to new product. Responsible for an in-depth knowledge of product, capable of providing skills transfer to clients and other engineer team members. Performs project management and some account management duties, as they are identified/assigned. Senior staff members will demonstrate in-depth understanding on complex projects to include clustering, systems management or virtualization of machines.

Job Requirements

Exceptional communication and presentation skills, pSeries or AIX Technical Certification (hardware and software) or equivalent skills. Prefer high skills in a combination of the following: AIX, LPAR, HACMP, Tivoli, and Veritas Cluster Server. Additional skills in WLM, PSSP, Sun / Solaris, HP / HP-UX preferred. Upon employment a combination of the following certifications and/or skill sets expected to be obtained: AIX Certified Technical Expert (CATE), HACMP, Veritas High Availability (MSI reimbursement and/or sponsorship of training provided).
