Unix Systems Administrator

Akibia is looking for a Systems Administrator to deliver on-site support to a critical client in the Boston area. You will work side-by-side with the customer to support organization-wide UNIX servers supporting critical applications such as email, web, SAP systems, and other applications and databases. Overall responsibilities include system design, implementation, maintenance, daily operations, job scheduling, and administration of user accounts, system backups and EMC SAN. You must be team oriented, have strong communication skills, and must be able to work independently and further the goals of the organization without immediate direction.

Responsibilities:

?  Install, configure, build, support, manage and maintain servers in both production and test environments. 

?  Proactively ensure the health of the server infrastructure by applying security patches, monitoring system logs, checking system backups, tuning systems and load balancing equipment, manage storage allocation, configuration and tuning of SAN and other production and development storage systems.

?  Participate in performance and capacity planning design and implementation

?  Document system and network infrastructure configurations and communicate these configurations to all members of the team.

?  Perform systems automation thru scripting of repetitive manual processes

?  Provide support for server issues during business hours and off-hours.

 

 Core Skills:

?  4+ year?s experience of system administration in a Solaris environment.

?  Working knowledge of SAN and NAS technologies

?  Strong experience working with Sun Solaris

?  Thorough understanding of TCP-IP networking fundamentals

?  Strong understanding of network security for UNIX system highly desired.

?  Experience with server log processing and analysis

?  Experience managing large number of hosts with automated tools

?  Experience with monitoring systems such as Nagios

?  Strong shell scripting experience

?  Excellent ability to communicate both orally and in writing

? Ability to work well under pressure and within a team environment

?  ?Can-do? attitude in daily operations duties and trouble-shooting issues

?  Must work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated

?  Excellent trouble shooting and problem solving skills.

 

Exposure to the following highly desirable:

?  Oracle RDBMS

?  Designing and/or operating EMC CLARiiON Storage Area Network.

?  Management of routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls

?  Linux systems administration

?  Solaris and Linux kernel tuning
