MISSION / SUMMARY:
Provide 24x7x365 Central Systems support, which includes all AIX and Linux-based systems supporting the SAP central, test, development, and sandbox instances. Responsible for all central storage systems. This position is tasked with system performance monitoring, infrastructure capacity planning and recommendations, second-level problem determination and mitigation, and development and management of backup and recovery strategies for the company?s Central Systems ? SAP and its included Application Servers, Payroll, ePEAK (AIX), Tivoli Storage Manager, and all central storage management, which includes the ESS / DS4500 disk and 3584 LTO tape libraries.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.
AIX Server AdministrationAssume ownership of the ongoing maintenance of all Linux and AIX-based servers located in the data center and remote plants and mills. Provide after hours support via on-call rotation.Manage SAP Interface systems such as the ePEAK database servers.Maintain primary Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) servers.Interact with vendors and other IT teams to ensure proper configurations, sizing, and future growth of GPI?s central systems.AIX / Linux server backup and recovery testing.Disaster Recovery documentation and testing for SAP, Payroll, and other AIX / Linux systems.Manage the legacy OptiVISION system and new OptiVISION database servers.Perform other roles as required to ensure the success of the IT Services organization.Root cause analysis to mitigate help desk and customer affecting issues.
Central Storage ManagementManage all central storage serving systems in the Atlanta data center, and remote OptiVISION servers.Manage the backup process utilizing IBM?s Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) for SAP and all Linux/AIX systems. Assist the Windows team in the daily management of the Windows-based TSM servers.Interact with vendors and other IT teams to ensure proper configurations, sizing, and future growth of GPI?s central storage systems.Manage the configurations, of storage devices, including LUNs and tape units.
AIX Systems Project ManagementTake a lead design and implementation role for all Data Center AIX and Linux systems to assist the Primary IT Project Manager. Help to coordinate project milestones, timelines, and budgeting.Clearly communicate deliverables and milestones to all parties to ensure project success.Utilize GPI?s standard tool set and IT Governance guidelines for project tracking and resource availability.
RELEVANT METRICS:
Server/Service Availability
No unplanned/unscheduled outages due to change requests. Ensure SLA of 99.97% availability for supported systems.
Server Performance Reports
Provide monthly reports on server performance.
Infrastructure monitoring tool improvements
Add automation where possible. Enhance tool usage to extent of tool capabilities for proactive reporting, alerts, and notifications, as well as mitigation where possible.
Service Delivery
Improvement in business and users satisfied with service by Customer Satisfaction Surveys related to supported systems.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:Five to seven years experience in the design, configuration, deployment and administration of network and computer systems. Three to four years experience with IBM pSeries and UNIX, Linux, or AIX design, deployment, and administration required.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
? Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
? Extensive knowledge in the areas of HACMP, IBM pSeries server hardware, basic networking, and SAN/NAS technologies required.
? In-depth knowledge of DNS, LAN/WAN topologies, IT processes and procedures such as ITIL or COBiT, standard security practices, and systems implementations.
? IBM pSeries, Tivoli Storage Manager, and AIX certifications desired. Cisco certifications a plus.
SPECIFIC SKILLS:Strong perceptual and analytical thinking with the ability to identify deficiencies in the technical environment.Strong organizational skills.Excellent communication skills.
